Pikachu

Ash's first Pokemon, he was given Pikachu as his starter Pokemon from Prof. Oak after arriving late to his lab on his first day of his journey. Pikachu initially had no interest in Ash at first and would ignore his Trainer's orders. But after a brush with a flock of angry Spearow, Ash's selfless act proved to Pikachu the lengths the young boy would go to protect him, and in turn saved Ash as a result. Ever since that day, Pikachu had opened his heart to his Trainer which led to the two becoming close friends. And despite their ups and downs along the way has never left Ash's side thoughout his entire journey.

Dragonite

Ash first met Dragonite when she was a Dragonair when he and Goh were solving the mystery of Dragonite sightings somewhere around the ocean. After being rescued by a group of Dragonite, Ash and Goh were safely taken to the mysterious Dragonite Island and spent their time observing and collecting data for their research task. There, Ash met Dragonair who struggled to fly like her fellow Dragonite friends, and decided to help her out until she was able to fly. After an encounter with Team Rocket, a Wailord attack put Ash in danger. Due to her desire to save Ash, Dragonair evolved into Dragonite and rescued the young Trainer. After that, Dragonite expressed wanting to join Ash's team, still grateful for what he had done, and Ash in turn happily took Dragonite in.

Ash's first encounter with Gengar was when it made its presence known within Prof. Cerise's Laboratory, trying to scare its inhabitants out of the house. It disappeared after being warded off by Prof. Cerise's Yamper, but made its return some time later making its second attempt to scare the lab's residents yet again. Ash, who had thought to have been cursed, at one point ran off from the lab with Gengar (who had been hiding in his shadow the entire time) to compose himself. But after bumping into Gengar's original Trainer, Ash learned that the Gengar in the lab was in fact abandoned by said Trainer. Eventually, Ash chased after an upset and angry Gengar and after offering his compassion that the other Trainer lacked, got the ghost-type Pokemon to trust Ash and become his partner.

Ash had Lucario since it was an Egg. Before it hatched however, it called out to Ash after sensing his Aura that he emanated out during a Trainer battle. Hearing its call, Ash followed it until he found the Egg in the Pokemon Center where he learned that the Egg had come from the Sinnoh region and had been sent from Day Care to Day Care until it came into the hands of Vermillion City's Nurse Joy. Seeing that the Egg reacted to Ash's presence, Nurse Joy decided to put the Egg in Ash's care. Eventually, the Egg hatched and a Riolu came out of it. Initially Riolu was perplexed, as it was unable to detect the same Aura it was able to sense from before and ran away from Ash. But after being attacked by an angry Onix, both Ash and Pikachu confronted the rock-type in order to protect Riolu. It's there Riolu finally sensed that Ash was the source of the strong Aura it detected when it was an Egg, and after battling alongside Ash, Riolu expressed to join Ash in becoming stronger and soon became a formidable member of Ash's team. Eventually it evolved into Lucario after its desire to push further into becoming stronger than before.

When Ash first encountered Sirfetch'd, it was still a Farfetch'd at the time. He found Farfetch'd in the Galar Region after he and Goh heard from a Trainer about a wild Pokemon blocking the bridge and attacking people wanting to pass by. After a fairly intense battle between Farfetch'd and Ash's Riolu, it ended with Farfetch'd loss and Ash took it to the Pokemon Center afterwards. Once it recovered, Ash offered Farfetch'd to join him after he saw the Pokemon's pursuit in becoming stronger, to which it quietly accepted, becoming another reliable and powerful partner in Ash's team. Some time after, Ash helped Farfetch'd honed its abilities and strengthened their bond together, and as a result evolved into Sirfetch'd.

After being invited to the Galar Region to look for mysterious new fossils, Ash alongside his friends Goh and Chloe and with the help of two scientists end up finding four different fossil pieces together. The two scientists after reassembling some of these fossils, revived them and one of them was Dracovish. Ash attempted to befriend this strange Pokemon at first, but mistook its behavior as an attack. Eventually Ash managed to calm it down and was able to befriend it in the end. The scientists now satisfied at the data they've gathered let Ash keep Dracovish as his own, and another new friend was added to Ash's team.
